a letter to my 13 year old self

don't hide your emotions
commandment #8 – don’t hide emotions & talk out the problem i am the QUEEN of hiding emotions. it’s sort of become a problem over the years. actually, it’s just gotten worse as i’ve gotten older. when i was younger i had NO problem telling someone that i was upset. now? it’s like pulling teeth. it’s funny because if something IS indeed wrong, people can clearly see it… by my facial...

remember that there is only love
commandment #7 – remember that there is only love hi, i’m amanda and i’m a lover. i LOVE love. it’s true! my life is filled with so much love that i find it hard not to smile when i think about it. there are people in my life that i just could not live without. and i love these people with ALL OF MY HEART. of course my entire family falls into this category, but i also have a few special friends...

lighten up
commandment #6 – lighten up lighten up. lighten up. lighten up. ohhh soooo much easier said than done for me. this is something i’ve struggled with for as long as i can remember. it also might be the hardest commandment for me to stick to! i get so tense sometimes that i’ve actually hurt the people i’m closest to.  it’s really sad to think about. i can think back to a time when i was only...

let it be
commandment #4 – let it be when i find myself in times of trouble mother mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, let it be and in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me speaking words of wisdom, let it be let it be. three of my favorite words. three simple words with such a powerful message. what would your life look like if you could learn to just LET IT BE? i know for me,...

always be kind
commandment #3 – always be kind “let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.“ this quote could almost completely sum up my goal here. i  feel like this should have been commandment #1 for me. i hold this closest to my heart for obvious reasons. those who know me...

act the way i want to feel
commandment #2 – act the way i want to feel would you look at that… i’m only on commandment #2 and i’m already having the hardest time coming up with words. please be patient with me on this post. i’m not quite sure where i’m going with it. it might be the hardest commandment i have to write about because i don’t have much experience with it. ((so here goes a bunch of rambling)) —- this...

be amanda
commandment #1 – be amanda be amanda. it’s such a simple concept, isn’t it? not quite. if it were, then it wouldn’t be one of my 12 commandments. you see, being yourself is something that i think a lot of people struggle with, me included. there was a time in my life a few years ago when i had a really hard time being myself. this was at the beginning of my freshman year of college. i’ll admit,...
